We are excited that we are able to continue the tradition for our ski season for Cornerstone Christian School. We have again joined with the Bonners Ferry Classical Conversations HomeSchool group for the discounted ski school program.
The group lessons are continuing to stay 90 minutes long and the students will again be receiving a season pass, which is the same price per child as receiving weekly tickets, so that they can go up and enjoy the mountain on additional days. Please note that the rental for this program is only available for our scheduled lesson days. If a student loses their season pass, you will be responsible to replace it with a $25 fee. We will be taking photos of each student to submit to Schweitzer for their season pass unless they already have a pass. If your student already has a season pass please let Mrs. Parker know so we can convert this to the new group passes. The cost for this program is $280 per student. With help from school fundraisers and other sources, the cost per student is only $100. Please make a check out to the school and return with the completed paperwork as soon as possible.
Our first day will be Tuesday, January 7th and will continue for each Tuesday through March 5th (no skiing on February 18th). If for some reason your child is unable to attend one of the days, please let Mrs. Parker or Mrs. Rossbacher know as soon as possible.
Please fill out and return the forms sent out earlier this week (season pass release, rental form, lesson/rental release, and permission slip) by Wednesday, December 4th for your student. All students are REQUIRED to wear helmets. If your child does not already have one, they are available to rent at Schweitzer. You can also choose to purchase one at Far North, Big 5, Costco, or other stores.
On Tuesday mornings we will meet at the Safeway parking lot at 6:45 am to caravan/carpool to the mountain. This will permit enough time to drive to the top of the mountain, get the necessary rental gear, and be ready in time for the lessons to start. Please ensure that your child has the proper attire: helmet, hat (to assist keeping head warm), gloves (no cotton gloves), extra socks, goggles, warm/water resistant pants (snow/ski pants), and jacket. Please label your child’s items with their name. Please also pack them a good lunch and snacks to keep their energy up for the day.
All students are required to participate in the group lessons and will follow all directions by ski school instructors and chaperones. All students will use the “buddy” system for the remaining time on the mountain. Any student not complying with these directions will not be permitted to participate with this program. Electronic devices (cell phones, iPods, etc.) are allowed to be brought to the mountain. They may be brought for the trip to the mountain and from the mountain. However, they will be surrendered and turned into Mrs. Parker or another chaperone once at Schweitzer for the duration of the time on the mountain. This will help maintain the benefit of skiing/snowboarding at Schweitzer for a school day once a week and the benefit of enjoying the outdoors instead of being behind an electronic device. In case of an emergency, needing to contact a parent, teacher, chaperone, etc., the student will borrow a cell phone from Mrs. Parker or one of the other chaperones to make contact as necessary. Upon leaving the mountain, the electronic devices will be returned.
We are looking for a few volunteers who would be willing to drive to and from Schweitzer. If you are willing to assist with the caravan/carpool, please notify Mrs. Parker and provide her with a copy of your auto insurance showing the required 100,000/300,000 coverage, an Upper Columbia Conference Private Transportation form (provided by Mrs. Parker), and proof of completion of the Adventist Child Protection screening (instructions provided by Mrs. Parker).
Thank you & looking forward to a great ski season – Mrs. Parker & Glory Rossbacher

DOCUMENT EXPLANATIONS:
- LESSON AND RENTAL RELEASE: this needs to be filled out for EACH student. We will not allow a student to participate without this release in advance. Since this is a combo release for convenience, please let parents know that even though it says “rentals” this does not mean that they are signed up to rent.
- SEASON PASS RELEASE: because each student will receive a season pass with this program, we will need to have a Season Pass release filled out and returned BEFORE we can print out their pass.
- RENTAL FORM: this form is to be filled out for those who are RENTING only. If the student is not planning to rent they do not need to fill this out. It is designed to keep their rental information on file throughout the season for a speedier rental process.
- PERMISSION SLIP: this form can be filled out one per family.
